This ceramic bust was sculpted in Minnesota, and it has been on quite the journey since then. I spent well over a year trying to find the perfect frame to mount it to, and in the end I am so glad I waited. The bust itself was sculpted using a solid building technique. After everything had been sculpted, I went back in and cut the sculpture into pieces so I could hollow it out. This speeds up the drying process, and leaves less room for warpage in the kiln. It was painted with layers of underglaze before being bisque fired, and finished with a wash of black underglaze.
